Story
This is the true story of Narsimha (Suniel Shetty), a farm laborer, who desperately needed money to fund the education of his children. He finds himself in the midst of Naxalites where his mission becomes a mere subset of a greater cause that the militants pursue.''Red Alert - The War Within is a true story of an Andhra farm labourer who gets caught in a group of Naxalites and how he evolves out of the entire experience forms the crux of the story. Today our newspaper headlines are filled with stories of Maoists and the Reds and hence the story becomes very relevant and topical. Even though the film maybe about Naxals in India but it's presented in such a way that it can be identified by people across the world. It has a universal appeal. The film has no fabricated dialogues. Every line in the film has either been actually spoken by a Naxal or the law and is derived from a lot of research on interviews done with them. Every scene is true, every character is real and even the names of the character are taken from the actual Naxalites’ names,'' said director Mahadevan.

The film has been dubbed in three languages, making it total of four versions - Hindi, English, Telugu and Chhattisgarhi. (July 6, 2010)The film had its World Premiere at the Stuttgart Film Festival in Germany as a closing film on July 19, 2009. It won the Directors Vision Award at the festival. Mahadevan's film Staying Alive was selected for the same festival. Suniel Shetty won the Best actor award for the film to at the South Asian International Festival ,New York. Production started on May 19, 2008. The entire team has moved to an outdoor location and the current schedule will run through till June 14, 2008.
