Recently after Jaya ruffled feathers of Maharashtra activists of MNS with her comments at Drona music launch function that being from UP she would speak in Hindi only, Amitabh Bachchan had to intervene and tend apologies to calm down the situation. This has resulted in Jaya going into shell who has backed out from all pre-planned public appearances for Drona. Amitabh was away to Paris when this happened, To calm Jaya's frayed nerves, Amitabh is taking her for a one week vacation to Paris. (Sep 19, 2008)

An alumni of Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Jaya Bachchan made her film debut with Guddi (1971). She was noticed for her talent in her first film and went on to give famous performances in films such as Jawani Diwani (1972), Koshish, Anamika and Bawarchi among others. She married Amitabh Bachchan in 1973 and appeared in many films wiht her husband - Abhiman, Chupke Chupke, Zanjeer and Sholay. She put her career on the back burner after the birth of the couple's two children, Shweta Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan. After her 1981 film Silsila with co-stars Rekha, Sanjeev Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya took a long hiatus from the films. She made her come back in 1998 wih Govind Nihlani's Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa. She is currently an active politician from Samajwadi Party. She is a Rajya Sabha MP.
